Jakarta Food: Rujak Kolam Medan

Mangga dua is a well known shopping district located in the north of Jakarta. ITC Mall Mangga Dua is among the most visited mall in this area as it offers a huge varieties of items including clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, electricals, foods and so on. This place is so lively especially on the weekends, when people from all around Jakarta and also visitors come to do their shopping spree. The prices can be very attractive especially if one is good in bargaining.

At least once a month I will do my visit to this place, not necessarily to do my shopping, but more to fulfill my craving for the super delicious Rujak Kolam Medan. Rujak (or Rojak in Bahasa Malaysia) is a traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish commonly found in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Rujak itself means mixture.
What makes this Rujak Kolam Medan so special is the delicious gravy added with coarsely grounded peanut. You can have a choice on spicy version or less spicy. Cashew nut can be added with some additional amount (~ Rp10,000 to Rp15,000). The fruits are a mixture of diced pineapple, young rose apple, Jicama, sliced young mango and cucumber.
For the price of Rp28,000 you can enjoy the diced fresh fruits covered with delicious Rujak gravy.
And if one plate is not enough, you can always buy a take away. They do sell the gravy too if you fancy preparing your own Rujak at home.

If you happen to be at ITC  Mangga Dua, take the escalator to level 3 (Blok D) and look for stall no. 134. It open for business at around 10.30am (ITC Mall open at 9.30am), and usually will have crowds from morning until late afternoon.

Latest addition is the chicken porridge (not in the menu)

I bought the Rp50,000 jar of Rujak sauce/gravy. They provide a pack of fried peanuts too.
And those are my own ingredients for Rujak my version :))
